HSLDA – Home School Legal Defense Association This organization is dedicated to protecting the legal rights of homeschoolers. They offer legal services to members of their organization.
We recommend that homeschooling families join HSLDA. Even if you never experience legal trouble yourself, your HSLDA membership will help enable other homeschooling families to get the legal help they need and will help defend our right to homeschool here in Valencia County. Membership in HSLDA also gives you personal access to the legal staff; HSLDA’s experienced high school, struggling learners, and early years consultants; selling privileges at the HSLDA Curriculum Market; and discounts through HSLDA’s PerX program. New discount code for our group (anyone can use, no need to ask our group is always a free group) 210324. When using the discount you will save $20 off annual membership to HSLDA. You may join anytime during the year. If there are 10 families using the code everyone that has used the code will be entered in a drawing in Oct. to receive a years FREE membership to HSLDA (Value $120), which will be in the form of a voucher to be used for the following year. The Home School Foundation The HSF is the charitable arm of the HSLDA, and was founded with the original purpose of helping other homeschool groups. The group is dedicated to helping needy families within the homeschooling community and provides grants to homeschool groups within the U.S. and internationally. The organization’s vision is ‘To be a tool increasingly used by God both to address the financial hardships that hinder families from homeschooling and to bless the homeschool community.’ For more information visit their site
State Groups
CAPE-NM Christian Association of Parent Educators CAPE-NM is a Christian organization dedicated to serving God by providing Biblical encouragement and information to homeschool families in the state. CAPE hosts a conference each year in Albuquerque to provide area families with access to curriculum vendors, national speakers, and other educational information. Visit the CAPE-NM site
ERC – The Educational Resource Center The Educational Resource Center is a ministry for homeschool families provided by Grace Baptist Chapel. As the “Hub” for homeschool communication, the ERC seeks to provide emails about educational opportunities for informational purposes. The ERC is open every Friday during the regular school year. The ERC is located at 12201 Comanche NE Albuquerque, NM 87111. The ERC also maintains a page on Facebook. $15 per year/family the fee can be waived if you donated your time at the ERC, contact the ERC for more details. State of New Mexico
NM PED, New Mexico Public Education Department This is the State of NM official page giving information on how to notify the state as well as a list of Frequently Asked Questions with answers. click here for State of New Mexico Public Education Departments website August 1st is deadline each year to renew your homeschool, or the day you pull your child out of a private/public school. I have heard that NM is not that big on deadlines, however please try to register by the deadline as it shows we are responsible as a homeschool community.
